Field Day

Posted by Tom Adams on May 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM Comments comments (0)

FIELD DAY WILL BE POSTPONED! Unfortunately, despite the beautiful morning, the park is too wet and muddy for us to run around on and have a good time. There is plenty of paved areas but we felt it wouldn't be safe for everyone to play relay games on. We had someone go out there this morning to check it out and it seems like it will not work for our purposes this time. However, we plan on rescheduling Field Day for sometime this summer. I will be posting more information on that soon. Sorry for any trouble. Hope you all have a great week.

Field Day

Hey all,

Here are the final details about Field Day. Unless it rains, it will be on May 10 at Nancy Lane Park in Atoka. We will be starting at 10:30ish (you know how it goes). We will play some smaller, Minute-to-Win-It type games for about an hour, then eat lunch, and after lunch we will play some group relay games. We should be done by 1:30ish. We would love for everyone to come on out and enjoy the day with us. Also, I will be sending out a survey soon for donating items. Here is a link to the survey http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0548a5ae2eaaf85-field. Thanks for your help.

The countdown is on! Egg-o-nauts Day Details

Posted by Sheila Prezioso on April 3, 2016 at 10:20 AM Comments comments (0)

Tuesday April 12th is just over a week away and we are so excited to have our first ever Egg-o-nauts egg drop contest. We can't wait to have everyone there!

This is our fun day, guys and girls, so bring yoursleves, your sack lunch and a dessert to share. Lunch will be picnic style outside if the weather permits and indoors if it is soggy. So bring your favorite picnic blanket to spread out and warm in the sun.

We will meet in the gym at 10:00 am and begin constructing our space ships for our egg-o-nauts launch. You are welcome to bring your own special box or building materials from home that you want to use on your ship, but we will be constucting them in the gym. Eggs and recycled materials will be provided for you. Moms and dad, if you signed up to bring items on the signup genius, please don't forget those.

Space ships will be constructed and then dropped by class beginning with the youngest. We will have certificates for surviving eggs and for those who meet a less fortunate fate. We will also provide activities for kids to do once they're done with their egg launch.

This is the day we have all been waiting for! So come one, come all and show off your engineering abilities. I can't wait to see who survives their journey back to Earth!

Cultural Fair Update and Request

Cultural Fair update/details:

Sorry I haven't been able to update everyone before now. I've had a lot of people asking me the same question so I think there is some confusion about the assembly days and class days. When we have assembly days planned, we do not have regular classes on those days. It is a short day; usually just 3 hours. The other question is 'are assembly days mandatory?' I don't really know how to answer this one. I would hope that everyone would want to participate. These events are a lot of fun for the kids and it gives us a chance to come together and get to know each other better. While you don't have to be there because you are not teaching, we want you and your family there with us to share the fun. So please do come. We would miss you if you didn't.

HUGE FAVOR:

I am going out on a limb here and asking for volunteers to step in and help me out with this event. We were a little sort with people on this committee to begin with and now Jennifer is sick so we are down to the bare minimum and could use another set of hands or two. If anyone has time to help this week, I promise your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

Event Details:

For this event, we will meet at BUMC at 10:00 AM in the GYM. Please sign up online for the country you want to do http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0548a5ae2eaaf85-cultural

So far I have 14 out of 28 families signed up. We really need this information to be able to prepare. So, pretty please go do that right now.

Presentations:

We are not going to have the kids do individual presentations. Instead we are planning some fun activities. We will need you to submit a couple of trivia questions related to your display. These can be sent to the co-op email address. The sooner you do this, the less crazy I will feel. Please and thank you!

Another idea that was passed around was to see if we can include information about how the country has contributed to the USA. This is not mandatory, but it would be so cool to see that in one place. So, if you want to do that, then it is certainly encouraged.

Food:

I would love to have everyone bring a dessert to share. It would be so cool if the desserts were themed for the countries, but if you stop at Kroger for cookies we promise you won't be judged smile emoticon We like cookies too lol

Lunch will be a brown bag it style thing. So pack a little lunch for your family and join us.

Our Cultural Fair is fast approaching! Please take a minute to sign up for the country your familiy would like to create a display for.  You can choose one country for you family or one for each child if you are feeling ambitious. Displays should be free standing; either a tri-fold poster or sculpture of some sort. Be creative.

We will have more details about this event posted soon.
